Поскольку continuous – это не просто действие, которое происходит прямо сейчас. Оно нам понадобится… для будущего времени. И не только!

Когда употребляют continuous: прямо сейчас и в планах.
1. Actions are going on right now. Если действие происходит прямо сейчас.
We are repeating “the Present Continuous Tense” at the moment.
2. We are planning to do something in Future. Если мы планируем что-то сделать в будущем.
Next weekends they promise that the weather will be excellent. We are making for a picnic into the nearest park. = We are going to make for a picnic into the nearest park.
“To be going to” – это частный случай для запланированного будущего, когда в нашей речи звучит, что мы «собираемся, намереваемся что-то сделать». Итак, для запланированного будущего мы используем обстоятельства Future Simple.
Когда употребляют continuous: действие нас раздражает.
3. The action happens too often. And it annoys us. We use the word “always” in the meaning “too often”, “more often as it should be”. Действие происходит слишком часто. И это нас раздражает. Слово “always” мы используем в значении «слишком часто», «чаще, чем это бы следовало быть». Вообще, нужно помнить, что герундий, то есть глагол с окончанием -ing, отвечает за эмоции. Если помните, после “высоко эмоциональных” глаголов – adore, enjoy, relish – мы употребляем именно герундий.
You are always forgetting the keys. = You forget the keys very often.
The teachers are always giving us many home tasks. = They give us many home tasks very often.
Когда употребляют continuous: глобальные понятия и прогноз.
4. Global events are reported in Continuous. Если мы говорим про глобальные события, они сообщаются в длительном времени.
The ice on the Poles are melting. – Лёд на полюсах тает.
Oh, the prices are going up quickly nowadays. – Цены в настоящее время растут быстро.
The traffic jams are becoming a real problem. – Пробки становятся реальной проблемой.
5. The weather forecast – and it is our favourite subject of conversation – is announced in Continuous with “to be going to”. In general, all forecasts are claimed in such a way. Если мы разговариваем про прогноз погоды – а это наша любимая тема для разговора – он сообщается в длительном времени с оборотом “to be going to”. В общем, любые прогнозы передаются таким образом.
The weather is going to get better. – Погода улучшится. Но не следует переводить предложение при помощи слов “собираться, намереваться”.
And the temperature is going to be 15 degrees above (below) zero. – Будет 15 градусов выше (ниже) нуля.
The sun is going to shine brightly. – Солнце будет светить ярко.
It is going to sleet. – Будет дождь со снегом.
The wind is going to blow highly. – Ветер будет дуть сильно.
Look at the heavy clouds in the sky! It is going to rain hard! – Посмотри на эти тяжёлые облака в небе! Будет сильный дождь!

2. What were you doing at this time yesterday? I / to mug a poem. It / to be awful. I / not can / to remember it.
3. What mark you / to get yesterday? – I / to get a “four”. I / to mistake one time.
4. Tomorrow at 12 o’clock I / to sit at the desk and to decide a test on Maths. – But as for me, I / to be afraid of any tests on Maths. I / to cut the lesson somehow (я пропущу урок как-нибудь).
5. What you / to do in the morning? – Что ты сделал утром в школе? – I / to spell on Russian, / to count and / to write on Maths, / to draw on Art, / to sing on Music, / to run on P.E. classes, / to read and / to retell the text on Literature and … – Oh, you / to be a Jack-of-all-trades! – Well, I / to fight with Kolya and / to break down a glass, in addition to it (в добавок к этому). – Really, you / to spend a great time!
6. At this moment I / can / to say that I / to understand English quite well now. And I / to want / to travel to London. 7. A week ago a new teacher on Maths / to come to our class. We / to learn many exciting things. She / can / to explain understandably difficult things. Then we / must / to decide some Maths problems. They / to be easy!
