Английский язык имеет ряд трудностей, с которыми так не нравится бороться многим изучающим его. Например, неправильные глаголы или фразовые глаголы. Но сегодня мы рассмотрим конструкции, которые имеют происхождение от хорошо известных нам и часто употребляемых частей речи, такие как used или used to. А также have или have to. Кстати, заметили ли вы, что у подобных конструкций появляется частичка to?

| To go (went, gone) – идти, ехать We went to the town long ago. And we have been in it so far. | To be going to – собираться, намереваться что-то сделать We are going to study English properly. |
| Used something – использовал что-то For this article we used fruit and vegetables. – Для этой поделки мы использовали фрукты и овощи. | Used to do – когда-то, бывало, раньше это делал (а теперь нет) I used to confuse these words. – Раньше я путал эти слова. То есть мы не делаем это сейчас. |
| Have something – иметь что-то, кого-то; have + food – есть, пить что-то; have + noun – глагол-связка окрашивается значением следующего за ним существительного Have much time – иметь много времени Have milk – пить молоко Have a shower – принимать душ | Have to do – вынужден, приходится что-то делать We have to carry out lots of exercises to know English well. – Нам приходится выполнять много упражнений, чтобы знать английский хорошо. To be likely to do – вероятно, наверное, возможно это будет I am likely to travel abroad a lot with my perfect English. – Вероятно, я буду много путешествовать с моим совершенным английским. To be unlikely to do – маловероятно, что будет She is unlikely to let you down. – Маловероятно, что она подведёт тебя. Если помните, в вопросе what is the weather like today – слово like имеет значение “похожий, подобный”. |
| Can – могу умею (модальный глагол) | To can – консервировать Granny tries to can much for winter. – Бабушка старается много консервировать на зиму. То есть глагол can может принимать окончания глаголов в настоящем и будущем временах. |

| Hard – тяжелый, усердный, трудный; тяжело, усердно, трудно The text is hard. I have learnt it hard. – Текст трудный. Я усердно учил его. | Hardly – едва ли, еле-еле You don’t remember the text. You hardly learnt it. – Ты не помнишь текста. Ты едва ли выучил его. |
| Late – поздний, поздно (прилагательное и наречие) Somebody called me late. The late call woke me up. – Кто-то мне поздно позвонил. Поздний звонок разбудил меня. | Lately – недавно, на днях (обстоятельство Present Perfect) Our group has repeated the theme lately. – Наша группа повторяла эту тему недавно. |
| Age – возраст, век (смотрите следующий урок) Pupils graduate from the 11th form at the age of 18 years old. – Школьники заканчивают 11 класс в возрасте 18 лет. | For ages – очень долго (обстоятельство Present Perfect) What a great meeting! | To take – брать, взять; отводить They took the children to the Bolshoi theatre the other day. – На днях они водили детей в Большой театр. | It takes me up – мне нужно, мне требуется It takes me up much time to carry out all these praxis! – Мне нужно много времени, чтобы выполнять все эти задания! |

| Last – прошлый (про время: месяц, год, неделя, век) We were travelling about England last month. Next – следующий (про время: месяц, год, неделя, век) We are flying to London next week. | The last – последний (автобус, спектакль, страница, ступенька и так далее) We were looking forward to the last page to learn the end of the story. The next – следующий (про что угодно, но не про временные промежутки) The next text is likely to be harder but more exciting to read. – Следующий текст будет труднее, вероятно, но интереснее. |
| Sure – уверенный I am sure of my success. – Я уверен в своём успехе. | I am sure to do = I am bound to do something – Я обязательно, непременно сделаю это (я в этом уверен) I am sure to cope with the task. – Я обязательно справлюсь с заданием. |
