Fashion, perhaps, was not interested only in primitive [ˈprɪmɪtɪv] times. There is a doubt that primitive people thought about

how to dress a loincloth more beautifully for them. But with the development of man, the concept of «fashion» began to develop.

It is easy to imagine that ladies in the Middle Ages were supposed to wear floor-length dresses. Men wore formal suits such as frock coats and tuxedos. It was impossible for women to pull on something like trousers.

An interesting development of the jeans story, for example, continues to this day. It began back in 1853, when a certain Levi Strauss came up with working clothes for farmers.

Yes, jeans, which have become so casual nowadays, were designed as comfortable, wearable and durable work-wear.

Let’s return from 1853 to the Soviet [ˈsəʊvɪət] era [ˈɪərə]. Then it was not customary to wear worn and torn clothes. It was considered obscene. In general, torn trousers or other type of clothing was considered untidiness, bad manners or a sign of a poor family of alcoholics [ælkəˈhɒlɪk].

But for how many years worn and torn jeans have been trending! If the USSR returned to our future, it – all fifteen republics – would be in outright shock! Their ideals would be destroyed. (Then everything was very strict and stereotypical [sterɪəˈtɪpɪkl], a fact.) Where only they, jeans, are not wiped, where only they are not holed now, when you go shopping and try to find something like classics! And it’s even cool – fashionable!

But with the classics it is sometimes difficult. Somewhere this product has got stuck on a distant shelf, and you – a former citizen of the Soviet Union

– are trying to find yourself a rarity.

Moreover, trends in fashionable jeans are developing, and, one might say, are becoming more sophisticated. Currently, there is a fashion for naked jeans. The question is this: initially, jeans were work clothes, which, as expected, should protect against a negative working environment

and bring convenience and comfort under unfavorable conditions that develop on the farm, right? Then why are jeans needed now?

The trend in fashion, which has been observed over the last decade,

is a real flight of sophisticated thought! I wonder what guides the stylists who could think of such cuts of clothing?
