With this unusual creation, nature proves once again how diverse, unpredictable and brilliant it is.
Today we will tell you about a mushroom that is extraordinary from the very moment of its appearance. It hatches from eggs. And it happens like in that horror movie when the shell suddenly cracked and split, and red tentacles slowly begin to come out of it.
There is really something creepy about this sight. Therefore, the mushroom got the appropriate name – the devil’s fingers.
After hatching, the red hand actively stretches upwards, straightening its five fingers and turning into an open palm. The fingers themselves are covered with mucus, and the smell is very unpleasant. It is compared to rotting meat, uh… it attracts flies with its smell. Carnivorous, he feeds on them. Or, having moistened them abundantly with his mucus, he can let them go free – to spread the spores.
The mushroom does not live long, about two days. Then it dries up, turning into a pale brush of a dead man. A cheerful mushroom from the Veselkov family. Designed from birth to celebrate Halloween. That’s just it grows from June to October.

Despite the rather large area of distribution – a native of tropical countries began to appear in Europe — Germany (date of discovery – 1937), Austria (1948), the Czech Republic (1963), the Baltic coast (about 60 years) – this fungus is very rare. It has been listed in the Red Book almost from the very beginning of its discovery.

So you don’t pick mushrooms for your beloved mother-in-law. In addition, it tastes unpleasant, as well as the smell. So say the brave men who decided to taste the wonderful mushroom. But there were those who wanted to experiment! Well, maybe for the sake of the fact: after all, a mushroom! He would also like to grow and fry the appropriate potatoes!

Oh, it’s a pity that he’s so creepy, this gift of the forest! And it would be fun to hear such a conversation: Well, how? Shall we go to the forest for mushrooms? Archer’s Anthurus to collect! They say the season has begun.
In Belarus in 2020, this mushroom turned out to be an alien at all. The woman found it in her country garden by the smell. As she joked later when she gave an interview: «I thought that the cat had gone for her last walk and had not returned.» This mushroom spread such a smell!
Then the whole family started searching the Internet for information, and found out that it was Archer’s Anthurus – a rare mushroom, which, as it turned out, was first found on the territory of Belarus. We decided to report an amazing find. «The mushroom is already specific, and then I had to take it in the trunk of a car to Minsk,» the newly-born mushroom picker laughed.

Scientists are puzzled how the mushroom could have come to Belarus from another country. But there is an assumption that the summer of 2020 was hot and dry. Oddly enough, these are favorable conditions for the devil’s fingers — another feature of the Archer’s Anthurus, isn’t it? So with global warming, there is a possibility of its widespread spread and its displacement from an honorable position in the Red Book.
