People usually celebrate New Year’s Eve at home with their families. They decorate a Christmas tree, watch TV, and have a big festive dinner. At midnight, they listen to the President’s speech and toast the New Year with champagne.
2. On Christmas Day, families gather for a meal, exchange small gifts, and spend time together. Some people also go to church.
3. On International Women’s Day, men give flowers and small presents to women — to their mothers, wives, sisters, and colleagues. It’s a day to show respect and appreciation.
4. Maslenitsa is celebrated with lots of pancakes (blini), which symbolise the sun. People also take part in outdoor activities, sing songs, and burn a scarecrow to say goodbye to winter.
5. On Victory Day, people attend parades, lay flowers at war memorials, and honour veterans. Many watch military films and share stories about their grandparents. In the evening, there are fireworks.
