They decided to go to the village of Hoer Verde (Brazil, 1923) to visit a relative who had recently married. And planned to stay there for a couple of weeks to find out whether

it was worth opening a store in this area.

But when the travellers set foot in the village,

they were struck by the desolation of the streets and the accompanying dead silence. No hubbub of rushing kids, no swaggering hens, no locals scurrying around the farm. Only the wind shakes the shutters opened in the empty windows and the signs on the houses.

Puzzled, visitors to Hoer Verde walked around the houses, looking inside — not a soul! It is obvious that the entire population has left the village.

Having reached the place of residence of a relative,

people found the windows and doors wide open. Appliances and half-eaten food were placed on the kitchen table. There was a chair lying on the floor. It seemed that a few hours ago the usual life was going on in this house. But something happened, and the residents hurriedly fled from their native walls.

Frightened by the ghost village,

the travellers made for the nearest town and contacted the authorities of the local municipality.

The police arrive at the village to investigate,

accompanied by a group of volunteers and curious onlookers. No signs of assault, violence or abduction. It was obvious that the villagers had left it of their own free will. But they were in such a hurry that they did not pack and pick up their things. Documents, money, valuables and clothes were left on the ground. The unlocked doors witnessed that,

leaving, the villagers no longer cared about the safety of their shelter.

The police also examined the school building. In one of the classrooms, a pistol was found on the desk, from which – according to the ballistics examination – had recently been fired. But where, — it was not found out. On the blackboard, the researchers examined an inscription made in chalk in Latin: There is no salvation!

A rather ominous message left at the last moment… Obviously, even after a cursory inspection, some disturbing event occurred, although nothing testified about it.

There are several hypotheses [haɪˈpɒθɪsɪs] about the disappearance of the village. One of them is the unfavorable political situation in the country,

when partisans [pɑːtɪˈzæn] actively conducted their activities. The villagers, fearing clashes, could go deeper into the forest or simply evacuate on their own to other,

quieter parts of Brazil. But not even a trail was found, which could not have been left by so many pairs of feet — after all, more than 600 local residents disappeared! And if they ended up at some other point, then information about them had to somehow come up! No information was received about any villager.

A version is being put forward about a mass visit by aliens. People could be hypnotized [ˈhɪpnətaɪz]

and then loaded onto their aircraft – for the purpose of experiments. And why not? Earthlings also make experiments on mice and hamsters. And why are we, a primitive people, not fit for material in the name of… human welfare. There is even a video posted on the Internet with a hypnotic session,

where the «seer» claims that the illage was stolen, precisely for experiments, with benefits for earthly people. Almost 100 years have passed by,

but the aliens have not yet proved to us in any way what good they have done to the planet Earth.
