It happened a long time ago, back in 1969, in the old days of the Soviet [ˈsəʊvɪət] Union. But it happened like in that fairy tale about the Sleeping Beauty. Mining operations were carried out in the settlement with the name Rzhavchik of the Tisulsky district of the Kemerovo region, when one of the bombers, who went down in this story as Karnaukhov, discovered a marble structure about two meters in size, resembling a sarcophagus [sɑːˈkɒfəgəs].

With the gray and difficult work of the miner, the event was truly intriguing [ɪnˈtriːgɪŋ]. Of course, all work was suspended, as attention naturally focused on the find. The sarcophagus was raised from a depth of 70 meters to the surface, several attempts were made to open it: of course! It’s curious what can be stored inside this antique [ænˈtiːk] thing! But the lid of the sarcophagus was precisely fitted, without a single crack, so that nothing could penetrate through the thickness of 15 centimeters. But now, when the excavation has risen from the darkness and cold of the deep underground, the solar effect has come to the rescue: under the influence of heat, the putty that holds the lid and base firmly together has flowed.

What the present miners saw threw them into amazement: it turned out to be really a burial, but what kind? A slender woman, 25-30 years old in appearance,

in a white openwork dress rested serenely in a coffin. European face, thick curls framing pink cheeks, wide-open blue eyes. It seemed that she was about to stir and rise -she looked so alive and natural, untouched by any signs of decay. The woman herself was immersed in a transparent pinkish liquid

that reached the very edges of the sarcophagus.

Rumours about the find quickly spread, the entire local population flocked to marvel at the beauty. The sarcophagus stood in the open air from the morning

until about three o’clock in the afternoon, when a helicopter arrived from Novosibirsk —

with the intention of taking the found «treasure» for research. Those present were ordered to leave this place as soon as possible, since it could be infected: after all, facts are known when bacteria [bækˈtɪərɪə] gathered in ancient graves, and violators of the rest of the deceased were infected with unknown viruses [ˈvaɪərəs].

The coffin filled with liquid was heavy, and it was decided to drain this liquid. But from contact with the air, the beauty immediately began to literally wither: shrivel and darken. To correct the situation, the liquid was poured back. Anyway, the cargo was delivered on board the helicopter, which went to Novosibirsk [nɔːvəsɪˈbɪəsk]. Further events in the remote settlement began to develop rapidly. Articles about the amazing find appeared in the local newspaper. A professor of some scientific department arrived and gave a lecture at the local club, at which it was announced that the charming beauty had already passed 800 million years.

This fact turned the whole human idea of the history of the earth upside down. Scientists are allegedly engaged in an active study of the liquid in which the Tisul Princess was stored, as she later became known. The composition of the liquid was a mystery to researchers: it seemed to be something of a decoction of herbs unknown to modern times. Like the beautiful woman’s dress, it was made of a material that does not exist in the modern world.

Soon a special team arrived, which compiled lists of those present at the removal of the sarcophagus and its display to the public. It was done for further mandatory medical monitoring.

Indeed, almost everyone who happened to witness those events died by various coincidences over the next year, except for the excavator operator Garmanov.

In 2013, a TV show was filmed with TV presenter Andrey Malakhov, in which correspondents tried to raise the events of those years and collect possible evidence.

Anyway, the traces of the Tisul princess were lost back in 1969. And for the prescription of years and the inability to find witnesses, it is unlikely that it will be possible to restore the truth.
